Resume

The purpose of the study is to study the clinical, demographic and radiological characteristics in patients with type 2 diabetes associated with tuberculosis.

Material and methods. We selected 188 patients, which we divided into 3 groups as follows:

Group 1 – 88 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and pulmonary tuberculosis with a deficiency of vitamins B12 and D,

Group 2 – 56 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus with a deficiency of vitamins B12 and D,

Group 3 – 50 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis with a deficiency of vitamins B12 and D.

Results. Pulmonary tuberculosis more often developed in middle-aged patients (after 45 years) with type 2 diabetes mellitus with moderate and severe severity, with a subcompensating form, with a complicated course. The majority of patients with diabetes mellitus at the time of detection of tuberculosis had a disease experience of more than 7 years. In patients with diabetes mellitus, an infiltrative widespread process with bacterial excretion was more often recorded, and drug resistant tuberculosis was detected in every fifth.

Conclusions. 1. The risk factors for the development of tuberculosis in the main part of patients with diabetes mellitus were social factors (unemployment, low professional level, the presence of bad habits), medical (chronic obstructive lung disease, cardiovascular pathology, chronic diseases of the gastrointestinal)2. The most common infiltrative pulmonary tuberculosis was 49 (35.5%) observations and less often – disseminated pulmonary tuberculosis – 1 (0.7%) patient

Key words:   pulmonary tuberculosis, diabetes mellitus
