Resume

Purpose: prevention and modern view on conservative approaches to the treatment of senile cataracts. Risk factors for cataract development: Although up to half of congenital cataracts are due to genetic factors, their influence on the development of primary cataracts in adulthood is still poorly understood. More specific risk factors for cataract development include ionizing radiation, a number of drugs (corticosteroids, phenothiazines, miotics, busulfan; possibly amiodarone and statins), dietary and environmental factors.

Cataract as a nosological unit. Congenital and traumatic cataracts, which make up a small percentage in the epidemiological situation: 90% of patients have age-related (primary) cataracts. Cataract Treatment: The only effective treatment for cataracts at the moment is cataract surgery. In combination with combined preparations with a composition that is aimed at slowing the development of cataracts in patients who are not ready for surgical treatment. Conclusion: Thus, the importance of developing non-surgical approaches to the prevention and treatment of cataracts, taking into account the pathogenesis of this disease, becomes obvious.
