Resume

Treatment of cirrhosis of the liver with portal hypertension remains a non-aging problem of modern medicine. Especially, the treatment of the most formidable complication of the disease, bleeding from the veins of the esophagus and thereby saving the patient’s life from death is associated with surgical methods of reducing portal pressure and for this the use of portocaval anastomoses is known. It is also known that portocaval anastomoses, together with an effective reduction of portal pressure, significantly worsen blood circulation in the liver, due to the release of portal blood into the caval system bypassing the liver with the development of hepatogenic encephalopathy.

The results of clinical studies have shown that in order to reduce these complications, it is necessary to use one of the variants of portocaval anastomosis – distal splenorenal anastomosis.
