Resume

In this study, the incidence, location, and pathologic anatomy of pulmonary artery thromboembolism after surgery for congenital heart defects were investigated. Pulmonary artery thromboembolism was detected in 21 out of 72 autopsies performed at RPAM, that is, after surgery to correct congenital heart defects. The location of thromboembolism in parts of the pulmonary artery was shown as follows: in 3 of 21 cases (14.3%) in the main branch of the pulmonary artery, in 7 (33.3%) pulmonary lobes in the branches of the artery, and in 11 (52.3%) in small arterioles in large numbers. was determined. Regardless of the location of the pulmonary artery thromboembolism, microscopically, it was found that it has a histological structure of mainly fibrin fibers, a small amount of leukocytes, macrophages and hemoglobinogenic pigment granules are located between the fibers. If thromboembolism develops in the branches and arterioles of the pulmonary artery, the process of necrosis develops due to ischemia in the areas of the lung tissue supplied with blood by these arteries, and microscopically, the necrotic alveolar tissue becomes completely structureless, completely filled with blood elements.

Key words: heart, congenital defects, surgery, complications, thromboembolism, lung tissue, infarction.
