Resume

Metabolic syndrome (MS) is a group of conditions that have a negative impact on human health in general. Its prevalence is rapidly increasing worldwide and has coincided with a global decline in fertility and fertility potential. This review aims to address this observation by examining the relationship between metabolic syndrome and women’s reproductive health. The impact of obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and insulin resistance on female fertility has been studied, and supporting data has been described to explain the pathophysiology of dysfunction with each component of the metabolic syndrome. Adopting a healthy lifestyle appears to be the single most important intervention to prevent the unwanted effects of metabolic syndrome on women’s health and fertility.

Key words: infertility, women, metabolic syndrome, obesity.
