Resume
The effectiveness of using the “Hearing test – tone audiometry” program installed on a mobile device with an Android or IOS operating system in the diagnosis of hearing impairment in the conditions of special treatment facilities for patients with COVID-19 was evaluated. 67 patients aged 18–65 years with COVID-19 and acute sensorineural hearing loss formed the main group. The control group consisted of 20 practically healthy individuals. In 65 (97%) patients of the main group, the results determined by the program “Hearing test – tone audiometry” showed that the classification used to determine the actual hearing level corresponded to the range of limits for each level of hearing impairment. Only 2 (3%) patients were found to have a discrepancy between the thresholds for each degree of hearing impairment of the current classification. The result of speech examination was 62 (92.5%) and 5 (7.5%), respectively. The use of acumetry in conjunction with the program “Hearing test – tone audiometry” allows determining and diagnosing hearing impairment in special hospital conditions adapted to the treatment of the disease of COVID-19.
Key words: COVID-19, sensorineural hearing loss, “Hearing test – tone audiometry” program installed on a mobile device with Android or IOS operating system, tone threshold audiometry, speech examination.
