Resume

The article presents the modern basis of prevalence, causes and development of metabolic syndrome and obesity. At the same time, an analysis of what diseases and complications this pathological condition causes is shown. Obesity is manifested independently or as a clinical manifestation of any disease, which causes various cardiovascular and renal diseases through metabolic disorders. It has also been proven that arthrosis, gout, impaired glucose tolerance, type 2 diabetes, gallstone disease, varicose veins of the legs, and some oncological diseases are comorbid with obesity. These pathologies sharply reduce the clinical and functional status of patients and the quality of life. In this regard, combating obesity and metabolic syndrome, improving its effective treatment and preventive methods, identifying molecular-biological and genetic markers that indicate the course and development of the disease, and studying damage to target organs in obesity is one of the urgent problems of medicine.

Key words: metabolic syndrome, obesity, genetic predisposition, malnutrition, hypodynamia, arterial hypertension, dyshormonal changes, women.
