PREGNANCY AND DIABETES

Resume

GDM is the most common metabolic disorder in pregnant women encountered by endocrinologists and obstetricians and gynecologists and, therefore, is an important interdisciplinary problem. This is due to both an increase in the number of pregnant women with this pathology, associated with a sharp increase in the incidence of diabetes in the population, and an improvement in the quality of its diagnosis. The stages of screening, indications for conducting diagnostic tests, the timing of their implementation and the method of implementation are presented. Indications for the beginning of insulin therapy in pregnant women with GDM have been formulated. An algorithm for postpartum follow-up of women with GDM has been proposed. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the problem under consideration, it should be emphasized that doctors of various specialties (obstetricians-gynecologists, endocrinologists, therapists, etc.) should be aware of the modern approach to identifying and treating this common complication of gestation. Unsatisfactory perinatal outcomes, high incidence of obstetric complications in women with type 2 diabetes necessitate the development of new methods of management and treatment of this group of patients. Due to the possible teratogenic effect of oral sugar-lowering drugs, women with type 2 diabetes receiving such therapy need to plan pregnancy.

Key words: pregnancy, diabetes mellitus, pregnancy complications, delivery, perinatal outcome.
