Resume
According to various sources, polycystic ovaries among infertile couples varies up to 53%, in married couples this pathology reaches up to 20-22%. Polycystic ovaries in different populations is 5-10%.
The aim of this study was to investigate the association of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARG) Pro12Ala polymorphism.
120 women with PCOS, 30 healthy were examined to compare all parameters. The study used PCR to detect the presence of the PPARG Pro12Ala polymorphism, and all women were subjected to anthropometric, biochemical, and metabolic assessments.
PPARG Pro12Ala polymorphism may contribute to the risk of developing PCOS and abnormal metabolic parameters and can be considered as a biomarker for early diagnosis and clinical prediction of metabolic complications.
Keywords: gene polymorphism, polycystic ovaries, metabolic syndrome
