Resume

Patients with Cushing’s syndrome (CS) exhibit poor neuropsychological status, including depression, anxiety, and mania, which also affect health-related quality of life (QoL) [3,5,8,19,29]. Recent data indicate that some behavioral dysfunctions observed in the active phase of SC do not completely disappear after correction of hypercortisolism [6,7,10,14,18,23,24,26,28]. In particular, an increased prevalence of affective changes such as anxiety, emotional lability, and apathy has been described in patients with ACTH-dependent KS after an average of 11 years of remission compared not only with healthy subjects, but also with patients treated for non-functioning pituitary macroadenomas [22].
