MODERN APPROACHES TO THE TREATMENT OF CHRONIC CICATRICIAL STENOSIS OF THE LARYNX AND TRACHEA IN CHILDREN

Resume

Purpose of the study: to evaluate the effectiveness of balloon dilatation treatment for chronic cicatricial stenosis of the larynx and trachea in children.

Research methods were studied by prospective observation of 37 sick children who were treated in the department of otorhinolaryngology of the clinic of the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute (TashPMI), who underwent balloon endoscopic laryngeal plastic surgery for chronic stenosis of the larynx and trachea in the period from 2016-2022.

Results. One month after the operation by balloon dilatation, 34 (92%) patients showed a positive result. One year after balloon plasty, 25 (67.5%) patients had an expansion of the area of ​​stenosis of the larynx and trachea up to 80% relative to the initial narrowing. In 3 (8%) children, re-narrowing of the larynx of the trachea was found at the original site of stenosis.

Conclusion. The method of balloon dilatation of stenosis of the larynx and trachea is a minimally invasive and effective method for the treatment of cicatricial stenosis of the larynx. Therefore, this technique is advisable to use before complex and multi-stage surgical interventions associated with cicatricial stenosis of the larynx and trachea.
