Resume

Vitiligo (from the Latin word vitium – defect + suffix -igo = “vicious disease”) is an acquired chronic skin disease from the group of dyschromia, characterized by the appearance of depigmented white spots on the skin, prone to peripheral growth, fusion due to the absence or decrease in the content of melanin in skin. In a separate nosological unit, as an independent disease, vitiligo was isolated in 1842, when Danielssen and Voesk scientifically proved the difference between leprosy (leprosy) and vitiligo (Goldman L. et al., 1966).
