Resume
Congenital heart defects (CHDs) account for approximately 1/3 of all major congenital anomalies, accounting for approximately 9 cases per 1000 live births. Despite significant improvements in surgical treatment, the condition of children with CHD is still accompanied by a rather high incidence of adverse postoperative outcomes, which is about 27%. Immuno-biochemical markers are an important tool for predicting postoperative complications in children with CHD. This article examines the role of oxidative stress in the occurrence of complications after surgery in this category of patients. Activation of oxidative stress can have negative consequences for the functional state of the heart and contribute to a number of complications regarding the respiratory system, neuromuscular, endocrine and other organs and systems. One crucial aspect in the investigation of postoperative complications involves assessing the oxidative stress profile, which includes analyzing markers such as superoxide dismutase, lipid peroxidation, cardiac-type fatty acid binding protein (HFABP), and cystatin C in the blood. Understanding the role of each of them can help predict and predict complications in young patients with CHD after surgery.
Key words: immuno-biochemical markers, postoperative complications, congenital heart defects, oxidative stress, superoxide dismutase, lipid peroxidation, HFABP, cystotine C.
