SURGICAL TREATMENT OF POSTOSTEOMYELITIC FALSE JOINTS AND DEFECTS OF LONG TUBULAR BONES IN CHILDREN

Resume

At the Republican Children’s Clinical Hospital “Aksai” for the period from 2000 to 2015, the Center for Children’s Emergency Medical Care of the city of Almaty for the period 2015 to 2022, 53 children with pseudarthrosis and defects of long tubular bones that formed despite the treatment of osteomyelitic process. The age of the patients ranged from 7 to 18 years. There were 35 boys, 18 girls. The results of treatment of patients were assessed using the scale we developed “System for assessing the functional state of the limb in case of injury in children and adolescents”.

Determination of treatment tactics for post-traumatic pseudarthrosis should be carried out only after a complete diagnostic procedure aimed at determining the condition of the bone fragments. When treating post-traumatic bone defects, it is necessary to follow the stages of restoration of damaged structures. It is more expedient to restore bone integrity using bone grafting in combination with a bilocal or polylocal method of compression-distraction osteosynthesis.
