Resume

General inflammatory diseases with the destruction of periodontal tissue are widespread in dentistry, are observed in 90% of the adult population worldwide, and are a serious medical and social problem. Since the destruction of periodontal disease is not only a violation of the balance of microorganisms in the oral cavity, but also occurs against the background of other somatic diseases, the diagnosis and treatment of this disease creates many problems in dentistry. For this reason, the etiology, pathogenesis and even the name of the disease remain controversial for many years. This causes many classifications of diseases. In recent decades, significant progress has been made in understanding the etiopathogenesis of various forms of chronic disseminated periodontitis and their interaction with other organ systems. In addition, significant importance was attached to oral cavity sanation and alternative treatment in systemic conditions, in particular, in the form of gastrointestinal ulcer disease. This article provides information on the main etiological factors in the development of periodontal diseases, as well as views on the mechanisms of their development from the point of view of modern dentistry.
