Resume

Hypertension in pregnancy remains a leading cause of maternal and neonatal pregnancy-related morbidity and mortality worldwide. Affected women are also at increased risk of cardiovascular disease later in life, independent of traditional cardiovascular disease risks. This article provides an analysis of modern literature on the etiology and pathogenesis of these complications.
