Resume
The incidence of esophageal atresia, one of the developmental anomalies, is 1 per 1000-5000 births. The morphological characteristic of esophageal atresia is wall dysplasia, characterized by incomplete formation of all anatomical layers in these areas according to localization, a fibrous rough structure of the basement membrane between the muscular and serous membranes, a disproportion of the mucous and submucosal layers and their different thicknesses. It is characterized by the development of vacuolar cytoplasm, reminiscent of hydropic dystrophy, in a multilayered epithelium covering the surface of the mucous membrane, 2-5 layers instead of the usual 6-8 layers of epithelium in the mucous membrane, hyperchromicity of the nucleus of epithelial cells.
Key words: esophageal atresia, newborns, morphology, dysplasia.
