Resume
Adhesive small bowel obstruction (ASBO) is a frequent cause of morbidity in children, particularly in resource-limited settings. This article summarizes evidence on ASBO management, including epidemiology, conservative treatment, laparoscopic approaches, and predictive models. Conservative treatment is effective in some cases, but surgery is often necessary. Laparoscopic adhesiolysis is a safe and effective alternative to open surgery. Further research is needed to determine the optimal treatment approach and develop comprehensive guidelines for managing ASBO in children.
Key words: adhesive small bowel obstruction, children, conservative treatment, laparoscopic adhesiolysis, predictive models, surgical intervention
