Resume

The thyroid gland is an endocrine gland, part of the endocrine system, the hormones of which (thyroxine and triiodothyronine) are necessary to maintain homeostasis in the body. With the direct participation of these hormones, basic metabolic processes occur in tissues and organs, as well as maintaining a constant body temperature and energy production. The role of these hormones in the human body is colossal: they regulate not only oxygen consumption by tissues, oxidation processes and energy production, but also influence the mental, mental and physical development of the body throughout life. The article provides a review of the literature on the anatomical and morphological features of the thyroid gland.
