Resume

To identify the level of prevalence of markers of viral hepatitis B and C among people who had not previously suffered from these infections, 853 668 residents of the population of Uzbekistan were screened for the presence of HBsAg and anti-HCV in the blood. The detection rate of both HBsAg and anti-HCV was 3.1%. The highest levels of HBsAg and anti-HCV were detected in Andijan, Bukhara, Kashkadarya, Namangan and Khorezm regions (4.6-3.6% and 5.5-3.7%%, respectively). Most often, HBsAg was found in mature people 41-50 years old - 4.6±0.1% and 31-40 years old - 4.3±0.04%, and anti-HCV in elderly people (51 years and older) - 4.9-5.8%. The frequency of detection of HBsAg and anti-HCV in males was 2.9-1.6 times higher, respectively, than in females.

Key words: viral hepatitis B, viral hepatitis C, HBsAg, anti-HCV.
