COURSE OF PREGNANCY IN WOMEN WITH MYOCARDITIS AFTER COVID-19

Resume

Myocarditis in pregnant women develops after viral infections. COVID-19 is also a respiratory infection, however, in some cases, it can lead to the development of myocarditis in pregnant women. We conducted studies in pregnant women with COVID-associated myocarditis to determine the characteristics of pregnancy and childbirth. The studies were conducted at the Republican Perinatal Center in 2020-2022. A total of 121 pregnant women with myocarditis were examined, including 75 women who had COVID-19 and 46 pregnant women with chronic focal myocarditis. Instrumental studies (ECG, EchoCG, ultrasound) and laboratory (troponin TI) research methods were performed. Conclusions. COVID-associated myocarditis in pregnant women develops mainly 3-4 weeks after COVID-19. Changes in echocardiography (mitral and tricuspid regurgitation, mitral valve insufficiency, etc.) in patients of group 1 with COVID-associated myocarditis were 1.5-2 times higher than those of pregnant women of group 2 with chronic focal myocarditis. The level of troponin TI, which is a marker of myocardial damage, in group 2 with chronic focal myocarditis was detected in 45% of pregnant women in group 2, which is 2.4 times higher than in group 1 (P<0.05). Timely treatment of myocarditis during pregnancy can reduce the frequency of surgical delivery.
