Resume

Mechanical jaundice occurs when the flow of bile, which is necessary for digestion, is blocked. This blockage, often caused by gallstones or inflammation, leads to an accumulation of bile in the liver, causing cell damage and potentially leading to liver failure. Traditional treatments sometimes fail to reverse these complications, so therapeutic plasmapheresis has emerged as a potential alternative. This extracorporeal procedure cleans the patient's blood, removing toxins and inflammatory mediators and potentially stopping or reversing liver damage. 112 patients were monitored and received treatment. The patients were divided into three groups: a control group of 46 patients who underwent retrospective endoscopic decompression and standard conservative treatment, and a main group of 66 prospective patients who received endoscopic decompression, nasobiliary drainage (NZBD), early plasmapheresis (rPF), and glutathione and Remaxol treatments. The study examined the dynamics of biochemical markers of mechanical jaundice complicated by liver failure after various combinations of these therapeutic algorithms.

Key words: long-term mechanical jaundice, plasmapheresis, liver failure.
