STREPTOZOTOCIN MODELS OF EXPERIMENTAL DIABETES MELLITUS

Resume
The aim of the study was to study the literature data on the creation of a model of stable experimental diabetes mellitus (DM) in laboratory rats using streptozotocin (STC). It was revealed that streptozotocin models of mixed or type 2 diabetes are most widely used in modern experimental diabetology. The sensitivity to the introduction of these diabetogenic compounds can significantly depend not only on the species, but also on the genetic line of the animal and its age. Studies are presented in which type 2 diabetes was simulated by the administration of streptozotocin (STC) to laboratory rodents (mice and rats).
