Resume

The article presents the results of a study of cytokines and their role during pregnancy. The content of cytokines in blood serum reflects the state of cytokine balance; therefore, determination of their levels has high informative value for judging the course of pregnancy and intrauterine development of the fetus. The balance between pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines is critical for fetal implantation, placental preparation and pregnancy outcome, and increased production of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the early stages of pregnancy leads to preterm birth. The course of pregnancy and childbirth was studied in 200 women at a gestational age of 22-36 weeks. Patients of the main group (n=150) were divided into two groups: group 1 (n=65) included patients with threatened preterm birth and group 2 (n=85) patients with preterm birth; patients of group 2 were divided into two subgroups: group: 2-A (n = 40), patients with premature birth without rupture of amniotic fluid, 2-B group (n = 45), patients with premature birth with rupture of amniotic fluid), the control group consisted of (n = 50) women with a physiological course pregnancy

Key words: preterm birth, risk factors, immunological markers, pro-inflammatory cytokines, anti-inflammatory cytokines, IL-10, TNF-α, IL-1β.
