Resume
Acute intestinal infections, including bacterial shigellosis, are a major endemic infection in children 1–5 years of age living in low- and middle-income countries. Shigellosis causes about 164,000 deaths each year, according to the World Health Organization. Currently, the emergence of multiresistant strains of Shigella to antibiotics is due to the uncontrolled use of antibiotics. This forces us to reconsider treatment tactics. This article presents analytical data from scientific research by a number of scientists. This, in turn, may prompt a revision of treatment tactics.
Keywords: Shigellosis, shigella, dysentery, hemocolitis, acute diarrhea
