Resume

This article presents an analysis of the literature data on the study of HPV pathogenesis, diagnosis, clinic and treatment. HPV is a significant public health problem requiring comprehensive prevention, screening and treatment measures. Diagnosis of HPV includes PCR, cytologic examination, and total viral load determination. Cytologic examination of cervical mucosal smears identifies cells characteristic of HPV infection. Clinical manifestations of HPV range from an asymptomatic course to the development of anogenital warts and cancer. Approximately 90% of infected individuals are able to self-manage the infection; however, persistent infection with high-risk HPV types can lead to cancer. HPV treatment is aimed at eliminating external manifestations and minimizing the development of complications, including cancer. Antiviral agents, immune-stimulating drugs, and medical destruction methods to remove papillomas are used. HPV vaccine prophylaxis has proven effective and safe in reducing the incidence of cancers associated with this virus. Despite the lack of specific therapy, existing methods of treatment and prevention, including vaccination, can effectively control the spread of HPV and related diseases.
