METHODS OF PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF ATRIAL FIBRILLATION

Resume

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common heart rhythm disorder requiring treatment. The key points of treatment include relief of paroxysmal AF and planned antiarrhythmic therapy. The article provides a brief overview of the main antiarrhythmic drugs used to relieve paroxysms of AF and for planned maintenance of sinus rhythm. Unique in this series is propafenone, available in two forms - oral and intravenous, which makes it a therapeutic agent at all stages of stopping paroxysmal AF and for planned antiarrhythmia.
