Modern information technologies (IT) play a crucial role in transforming medical radiology, offering new opportunities for diagnosis, storage, processing, and transmission of medical information. In recent decades, key innovations in this field include the implementation of electronic medical records (EMR), picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), and the integration of these systems with other medical data. This paper explores the historical stages of development of these technologies, their impact on diagnostics and the treatment process, as well as the challenges encountered in their implementation and integration. It examines the advantages and challenges associated with optimizing medical infrastructure, ensuring data security, and improving the quality of medical care through the use of EMRs and PACS.
