Resume
Determining the stage of the disease, especially the status of the sentinel lymph node (SLN) in patients with breast cancer before treatment is one of the most important prognostic factors. The SLN is the first lymph node in the regional lymphatic system through which lymph flows away from the tumor. Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) using methylene blue dye mapping has gradually replaced traditional axillary lymph node dissection (ALND) as the standard of care for early breast cancer [1]. In recent years, contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) using microbubble contrast agents has been explored to evaluate the lymphatic system in both animals and humans [2,3]. The purpose of this review is to examine the effectiveness of SLN CEUS for biopsy and diagnosis of metastatic sentinel lymph nodes using methylene blue dye as a reference standard in patients with early breast cancer.
Key words: breast cancer, sentinel lymph node, biopsy, ultrasound, contrast enhansion, sonazoid, sonavuе.
