Resume

The article examines the application of the ESP block technique in 32 newborns diagnosed with esophageal atresia who were admitted to the surgical department of the Andijan Regional Multidisciplinary Children's Medical Center (ARMC) in 2023–2024. As a component of general anesthesia, a regional anesthesia method – ESP block – was proposed, and its effectiveness was compared with opioid-based general anesthesia. To objectively assess the level of postoperative pain, the Newborn Infant Pain Scale (NIPS) was used. The analysis results demonstrated that the effectiveness of the ESP block in reducing pain syndrome was statistically significantly confirmed by the NIPS scale. This method plays a crucial role in reducing pain intensity and decreasing the dosage of opioids used in general anesthesia. It was concluded that the NIPS scale not only ensures the objectivity and scientific validity of the study but also serves as a reliable and standardized tool for pain monitoring and anesthesia efficacy assessment in clinical practice.

Keywords: esophageal atresia, thoracotomy, ESP block, NIPS, newborns.
