PREDICTORS OF TRANSIENT ISCHEMIC ATTACKS DEPENDING ON GENDER

Resume

The incidence of TIA is higher in men (50%), which may be associated with a higher prevalence of atherosclerosis (65%) and hypertension (75%) in the HS group. Arterial hypertension (AH) and diabetes mellitus (DM2) are more common in women from OH (70% and 35%, respectively), which may explain their high cardiovascular risk. Atherosclerosis was detected in 55% of women and 65% of men, which indicates its important role in the pathogenesis of repeated TIA. Overweight (BMI > 25) is more common in women (60%), which confirms the need to control metabolic risk factors.
