CHANGES IN THE BONE-ARTICULAR SYSTEM IN PATIENTS WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS AND HYPOTHYROIDISM

Resume

Nowadays pathologies of the musculoskeletal system occupy the third place in the world among all diseases of the population. The most common of them is rheumatoid arthritis (RA). According to the World Health Organization, “... rheumatoid arthritis affects 1-2% of the world’s population; in the first 5 еars of the disease, more than 40% of RA patients become disabled due to severe joint damage, which affects their quality of life.” Deficiency of thyroid hormones increases the activity of adenylate cyclase in the synovial membranes and increases the production of hyaluronic acid by fibroblasts. This leads to the accumulation of synovial fluid in the joints and causes the clinical manifestation of synovitis. Thus, the addition of thyroid diseases in patients with RA aggravates the pathological process in the joint.
