Resume
Today, stroke is one of the most dangerous and widespread neurological diseases. Acute cerebrovascular disorders are noted in every third person out of 1000 population. Stroke leads to permanent loss of work capacity. The mortality rate from ischemic stroke is second only to heart diseases and amounts to 8% among men and 16% among women. In Western Europe, an average of 33,000 euros per year is spent on treatment and rehabilitation of fertile-age women with ischemic stroke. However, looking at the numbers, it should be emphasized that for a long time, significantly more men were examined in studies. Although more gender-sensitive data is currently being collected, many questions remain unanswered.
