Resume

This review examines modern aspects of pathogenesis and risk factors for the development of uterine fibroids, which is the most common gynecological pathology of the female genital area. Among the leading pathogenetic mechanisms of uterine fibroids, attention is paid to impaired carbohydrate and fat metabolism, chronic inflammatory reactions, infections of the reproductive tract and disorders of the microbiota of the vagina and intestines, the interdependent effect of steroid hormones, growth factors and extracellular matrix composition

Key words: uterine fibroids, risk factors, estrogens, extracellular matrix, growth factors, vaginal microbiota
