Resume

Evidence is presented that genetic predisposition for lactose intolerance in both adults and young children significantly affects calcium intake, bone density, and bone fractures in postmenopausal women. PCR-based genotyping of lactase gene polymorphisms may complement diagnostic procedures to identify individuals at risk for lactose malabsorption and osteoporosis

Key words: polymorphisms, lactose intolerance, LCT, PCR diagnostics, bone density, and bone fractures in postmenopausal women
