COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF TRANSABDOMINAL AND EXTRAPERITONEAL APPROACHES IN ENDOSCOPIC INGUINAL HERNIA REPAIR

Resume

The aim of this study was to improve the outcomes of laparoscopic treatment for inguinal hernias by determining the optimal positioning of mesh implants in TAPP and e-TEP techniques. A total of 102 patients were retrospectively analyzed: 53 underwent TAPP and 49 underwent e-TEP repairs. Postoperative pain intensity, recurrence rates, chronic groin pain, recovery time, and quality of life were assessed. The e-TEP technique resulted in lower postoperative pain and faster return to normal activity with comparable long-term outcomes. Both techniques proved highly effective and safe when mesh placement was done correctly.
