FEATURES OF THE CLINICAL COURSE AND TREATMENT IN HIV-ASSOCIATED TUBERCULOSIS

Resume

The number of HIV infection and HIV-associated tuberculosis (HIV/TB) cases has increased in Russian Federation. 73 patients HIV/TB were under our supervision. The features of clinical finding and immunological status were detected. The need for chemoprophylaxis is being discussed at present. The epidemiological situation of tuberculosis associated with HIV infection has been declining in Kursk region during the last 15 years. Incidence rate of this pathology and its combination with hepatitis B and C among local population has increased. The rate of new cases of HIV- associated disseminated tuberculosis was 39.8%, caseous pneumonia was 6.8%, and extrapulmonary tuberculosis was 10.3%. Mycobacteria isolation has been revealed in 55.4%, drug resistance in 12% of the patients. Tuberculosis aggravates immunodeficiency in patients with the expressed clinical picture of HIV infection and promotes rapid disease progression. The control of situation can be achieved due to preventive treatment of tuberculosis and more accurate coordination between the TB clinic and the AIDS Center
