Resume
Vitiligo is a chronic progressive skin disease of unclear etiology associated with melanocyte destruction and loss of pigmentation. Despite the lack of a universal standard of treatment, topical agents, in particular topical corticosteroids (TCS) and calcineurin inhibitors (CI), are widely used in clinical practice. However, the choice of optimal therapy depends not only on the efficacy but also on the safety of long-term use, especially when foci are localized on sensitive skin areas. The present study aimed to compare the clinical efficacy and tolerability of mometasone furoate (FCS) and tacrolimus (IR) in patients with limited vitiligo. The study included 60 patients divided into two groups with a 12-week course of treatment. Both groups showed significant improvement of clinical picture and partial or complete repigmentation of foci. Calcineurin inhibitors showed a better safety profile and a lower incidence of side effects, which makes them preferable in the treatment of vitiligo on the face and in anatomically sensitive areas. The results confirm the necessity of an individual approach to the choice of local therapy in vitiligo and support the relevance of using IR as first-line therapy in mild and moderate forms of the disease
