Resume

Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) is the true visceral adipose tissue of the heart, which normally makes up 20% of cardiac mass.The fact that adipose tissue performs not only a heat-insulating function, but also a function of energy storage (in the form of triglycerides) has been known for more than 30 years.Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a complex condition characterized by high morbidity and mortality, often in the context of multiple comorbidities such as obesity. The pathophysiology of HFpEF includes emerging evidence that epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) or epicardial fat has an important function
