PATHOMORPHOLOGY AND PATHOGENESIS OF DEATH IN WOMEN OF CHILD BEARING AGE – HELLP SYNDROME

Resume

This study presents the mechanism of development of the HELLP syndrome and pathomorphologically specific changes as a cause of maternal death. As a material, the liver of 11 mothers who died from HELLP syndrome in the maternity and children’s department of the ROAC (Republican Pathological Anatomical Center) over the past 2 years was examined by autopsy. In all morphofunctional areas of liver fragments, foci of necrosis and infarction, hemorrhages are found. Diffuse fatty degeneration of hepatocytes, destruction, decay and development of necrosis of hepatocytes from the addition of an ischemic process were observed. It was found that a red-colored substance with eosin, consisting of free hemoglobin, accumulated in the renal tubules, i.e., which led to the development of nephrosis and hemoglobinuria. Pathological changes were not always present, and their frequency was as follows: persistent hemorrhage, periportal necrosis and fibrin deposition 66.7%, fatty degeneration of hepatocytes 55.7%, hemoglobinuric nephrosis 77.8%.
