Resume
Purpose and objectives of the study. Study and identification of clinical and morphological features of pneumonia fatalities caused by SARS-CoV-2 depending on the results of the PCR study based on the data of the pathological bureau of Almaty city.
Research methods: An analysis of 65 deaths from COVID-19 pneumonia was carried out: 63% for men, 37% for women.
Results and conclusions: Bilateral polysegmental pneumonia was more common. Autopsy revealed no specific macroscopic changes. Microscopic changes in the lungs of those who died with a positive PCR result and a negative PCR result were characterized by the development of respiratory distress syndrome. Fibrosis in the lung parenchyma was noted already in the early stages, and at later stages it was more pronounced with the addition of purulent exudate and fungal lesions.
Key words: COVID-19, pneumonia, pathological anatomy.
