MODERN METHODS OF ASSESSING ENDOTHELIAL DYSFUNCTION

Resume

In the FMD technique, to induce reactive hyperemia in the foot, a nail occlusion cuff is inflated above the systolic pressure and deflated after 5 minutes. Using the PAT technique, the difference in peripheral vessel diameter is determined before and after inducing hyperemia. Recently, research has proposed a method for measuring endothelial function at rest. This concept has generated renewed interest, and the term "low-flow-mediated constriction" (L-FMC) has been coined. The obtained data showed that vascular Doppler sonography (FMD) and PAT methods help identify vascular endothelial dysfunction at an early stage. This, in turn, helps prevent potential complications in patients with cardiovascular disease.
