Resume

This research study examined the morphometric characteristics of the lungs in infants born to mothers infected with COVID-19. In general, during the pandemic, coronavirus infection in the body of a pregnant mother can affect not only reproductive health, but also the development of internal organs and tissues of babies. Therefore, the scientific study analyzed the specific changes in the structure and morphometry of the lungs in babies born against the background of COVID-19. The study examined in-depth morphological and morphometric parameters of the alveoli, interstitial tissue, blood vessels, and bronchioles of the lungs. The results showed the impact of COVID-19 infection during pregnancy on the development of the child, in particular, the extent to which it alters the metabolic function and structure of the lungs. The results of the scientific work are relevant in the fields of perinatal medicine, neonatology, and morphology, and are of great importance in developing practical measures aimed at early diagnosis and elimination of morphofunctional changes that may occur in infants during COVID-19 infection. Also, the results of lung biopsy and autopsy examinations of infants born to mothers with COVID-19 due to lung toxicity were studied during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, the results of comparative diagnostics of morphometric characteristics of lung tissue in healthy and sick infants are described.
