OUR EXPERIENCE IN THE TREATMENT OF HERLIN-WERNER-WUNDERLICH SYNDROME IN ADOLESCENTS

Resume

Herlin-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome (SHVS, OHVIRA syndrome) is a congenital malformation of the Müllerian ducts. The syndrome got its name only half a century after the description discovered by scientists W. Herlin, H. Werner (1971) and M. Wunderlich (1976). The term OHVIRA (Obstructive Hemivagina and Ipsilateral Renal Anomaly) was proposed in 2007. The exact population frequency of the defect is difficult to establish, but the syndrome is up to 10% within gynecological congenital malformations. Herlin-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome is a rare congenital anomaly characterized by uterine duplication, unilateral obstructive hemi-vagina, and ipsilateral renal agenesis. Reaction syndrome of the diversity of anatomical variants. Literature data found that vaginal obstruction and renal agenesis are more common on the right side. The rarity and variety of variants of anatomical syndromes accompany practitioners in the diagnosis of this defect in the practice of gynecologists. What is an exceptional incentive to study the prevalence of this syndrome in order to exclude diagnostic errors (which is very important for gynecologists of childhood and adolescence).

Relevance: Exactly a century has passed since the first publication (in 1922, C.E. Purslow first described the case of obstructive hemivagina), concerning an anomaly of development currently referred to as Herlin-Werner-Wunderlich syndrome (OHVIRA syndrome).
