INFLUENCE OF ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS ON THE MORPHOLOGY OF THE LARGE INTESTINE

Resume

This article examines the influence of environmental factors, particularly carbon monoxide (CO) present in the atmosphere, on the morphology of the large intestine. The aim of the study was to identify morphostructural changes occurring in the intestinal wall under chronic exposure to carbon monoxide. Experiments were conducted on laboratory rats using histological and morphometric analysis methods. According to the results, prolonged exposure to CO caused degenerative changes in the mucosal layer, vacuolization of glandular epithelium, and altered activity of lymphoid elements. These changes disrupted the morphological stability of the intestinal wall and weakened adaptive-compensatory mechanisms. The findings are of practical significance for understanding the impact mechanisms of ecological toxic factors on intestinal tissues.

Keywords: environment, carbon monoxide, large intestine, morphology, histology, ecological factors.
