CLINICAL AND MORPHOLOGICAL FEATURES OF PERINATAL AND NEONATAL DEATHS OF EXTREMELY LOW BIRTH WEIGHT INFANTS IN KHORESM REGION

Resume

A comprehensive analysis of perinatal and neonatal deaths in Khorezm region (2020–2023) was conducted. Based on 156 cases, demographic, clinical, and pathoanatomical data were studied. The leading causes of death were asphyxia (38.2%), respiratory failure (27.6%), and pulmonary atelectasis (21.5%). Histologically, hyaline membrane formation, alveolar collapse, and vascular congestion were predominant. The majority of deaths occurred in preterm infants (25–30 gestational weeks, median weight 820±35 g). Mortality rates increased slightly during the COVID-19 pandemic years.
