Resume
To present the clinical features of gallbladder duplication based on the analysis of a clinical case observed in our clinic and to determine approaches for improving diagnosis and treatment strategies according to literature data. Materials and Methods. From 1990 to 2025, 148 patients aged from 18 days to 16 years with various pathologies of the hepatobiliary tract and pancreas were treated at the clinical bases of the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Tashkent State Medical University. Among them: 122 (82.4%) children had cystic malformations of the biliary tract; 7 (4.7%) had cholelithiasis; 7 (4.7%) had hepatic cysts; 6 (4.1%) had pancreatic cysts; 5 (3.4%) had a cystic form of biliary atresia; 1 (0.7%) had gallbladder duplication. Differential diagnosis was performed among these diseases. The final diagnosis was established based on the analysis of clinical findings, laboratory results, ultrasonography (US), multislice computed tomography (MSCT), magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP), and endoscopic examinations. Given the rarity of gallbladder duplication, diagnostic and treatment aspects were compared with literature data. Results. The diagnosis of gallbladder duplication was confirmed through a set of preoperative imaging studies. The final diagnosis, including the anatomical type and morphological structure of the anomaly, was verified by intraoperative and histomorphological examinations performed during cholecystectomy. Conclusion. Gallbladder duplication is a rare anomaly with a nonspecific clinical presentation in uncomplicated cases. The wide variety of anatomical variants is associated with an increased risk of iatrogenic injury during surgery and predisposes to postoperative complications. There is a high likelihood of diagnostic errors, and in many cases, the anomaly is detected intraoperatively. Diagnostic accuracy increases with a comprehensive approach employing radiological imaging methods. Cholecystectomy is indicated in complicated cases of duplicated gallbladder, whereas surgical removal is not recommended in asymptomatic patients.
