Resume
Purpose: to improve the immediate results of endovascular elimination of factors causing lower limb arterial ischemia in elderly patients with diabetes mellitus. Materials and methods: The object of the study was 160 patients with varying degrees of ischemia and purulent-necrotic process of the lower extremities who underwent endovascular revascularization against the background of diabetes mellitus at the "Twins medical center" private clinic in 2024-2025. When analyzed by age groups, the elderly patients were 60-75 years old. Results: Analysis of the conclusions obtained as a result of the treatment of patients showed that in 124 (77.5%) of the 160 observed patients, revascularization of the peripheral arteries ended with the restoration of blood circulation in all tibial arteries in full volume (including 3 arteries). In 150 (93.8%) treated patients, a reduction in the size of trophic ulcers in a short period of time and a certain acceleration of the wound defect healing process were observed. Lower limb pain significantly decreased in 133 (83.1%) patients (according to the VAS scale 5.9 → 2.3). Conclusion: The development of medical technology in modern surgery has led to the discovery of new technological surgical methods in many areas and the achievement of maximum effectiveness through minimally invasive methods. Endovascular revascularization of peripheral arteries in elderly patients occupies an important place in safe, effective, and long-term treatment based on the results of 3-month treatment.
Keywords: peripheral arteries, trophic ulcer, revascularization, endovascular surgery, old age, ischemia.
