Congenital cleft lip and palate (VGN) is one of the most common malformations of the maxillofacial region, occurring in 90% of children. Neonatologists and pediatricians are the first doctors to encounter such a child, and their task is to correctly assess the physical condition of newborns with cleft lip and palate, adjust nutrition taking into account this congenital defect and promptly refer them to a maxillofacial surgeon. However, an important point is the comprehensive rehabilitation of children with a defect in the form of VGN, which is not limited to surgical treatment of this deformity. Improper attachment of the muscles of the soft palate contributes to the development of dysfunction of the tympanic chamber in children with this defect, which leads to a chronic inflammatory process in the cavity of the tympanic chamber and eventually to hearing loss. Therefore, patients with VGN should be referred to an otolaryngologist every 2-3 months. The dentist's supervision of children with sVRGN should begin from the first days of life in order to correct the upper jaw, alveolar process, and further restore the dentition. Immediately after surgical treatment of this congenital malformation, classes with a speech therapist are necessary, since the socially adequate speech of these patients depends on a full-fledged palatopharyngeal closure. Thus, the rehabilitation of children with VGN is a complex interdisciplinary problem.
