SALIVARY GLANDS: MODERN CONCEPTS OF STRUCTURE, FUNCTIONAL REGULATION, AND PATHOLOGY

Urinova D.Kh. - Bukhara State Medical Institute named after Abu Ali ibn Sina

Resume

This review article provides a systematized summary of current data on the morphology, physiological mechanisms of secretion, and pathological conditions of the salivary glands. The anatomical organization of major and minor salivary glands, acinar cellular composition, regulation of salivary secretion, and the role of saliva in maintaining oral homeostasis are described. Special attention is given to inflammatory, obstructive, and neoplastic disorders. Modern research directions, including organoid technologies, regenerative biology, and molecular diagnostics, are highlighted.

Keywords: salivary glands, saliva secretion, sialolithiasis, xerostomia, tumors, stem cells.
